Excited shivers
ripple through family and friends.
Here she comes – the bride!
———–
As enraptured guests
witness exchanging of vows,
tearful joy glistens.
———–
Joined now forever
as loving husband and wife,
they share their first kiss.
———–
Reception begins,
photographs taken outside
So lucky – no rain!
———–
The night melts away –
Dancing, speeches, bouquet thrown.
A perfect wedding.

Prompt: TJ’s Household Haiku, 27 August 2017 – shiver and rain; and also, Daily Post Daily Prompt, homage
Author’s note: My baby brother Matthew got married on the weekend! This collection of Haiku is an homage to him and his lovely new wife. Such a joyous day and I’m so lucky to have shared in their special celebration ❤️

“Tearful joy glistens” are wonderful words expressing happiness in those special moments. I just returned from my daughter’s beachside wedding in Kauai, Hawaii. Wondrous experience. Lovely floral decoration. Sad that we weren’t able to bring the florals across U.S. customs into Canada. Congratulations to your brother and wife. ❤

Thank you, and likewise to your daughter and son-in-law. I’ve heard Kauai is amazing but didn’t get there when I visited Hawaii in January…

Thank-you, Sarah. It’s more low key compared to our 2 day stay in Honolulu due to missing our flight back. Loved being steps from the ocean for a week. What island were you on?

Nothing beats an ocean at your front door 💜 We went to Oahu and Big Island. The Big Island was incredible for the beaches, wildlife and volcanoes (of course)! I’m going back next year, but this time to Maui. Maybe Kauai can be my reason for a third visit 😃

Wonderful! I really enjoyed the experience, but I probably won’t be back. Between 4 flights to get to Kauai and over 24 hours of travelling time and lay-overs, it was too exhausting. The constant excessive heat was also hard to get use to. We had no air-conditioning in our condos and sleeping was difficult. It was all worth it in the end though to see my daughter have her dream wedding. 🙂

Oh yes, when the travel hit anything over 20hours, and add in some stifling heat…blergh. Luckily from Australia, it’s only a ten hour flight!
Glad your daughter had her dream wedding. I bet it was an amazing day for everyone
