The Girls

Below them,
the dark streets beckoned
with crimson
light. Then he
asked her price and the slap bounced
off tired brick walls.

‘Just because
I work here, doesn’t
mean I work
the corners,’
she replied. ‘Someone has to
look after the girls.’
