Liebster Award

THANK YOU to Gloria at We Are Holistic for nominating me for the Liebster Award! I am honoured to accept this award. I have been blogging on By Sarah for four months now and am loving the journey of writing and developing a community of blogging friends.

What is it exactly?
The Liebster award is given to bloggers by other bloggers. The idea is to welcome new bloggers into the blogging world and help them to get noticed. However, it seems that anyone established or starting out can be nominated. The word “liebster” originates from Germany and has several meanings; welcome, sweetest, pleasant, nicest, dearest, beloved, lovely, kind, valued, cute, kindest and endearing.

The blogger who nominates you asks 11 questions and then in return you nominate 5-11 bloggers with your own 11 questions. There is no obligation to accept, but since it’s nice to be asked, it’s nice to keep it going.

My answers to Gloria’s questions:

  1. When are you at your happiest? When I am with my husband and my two dogs Bella and Archie, usually out and about bushwalking or at the beach.
  2. If you were to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, whose would it be? Another teacher’s. I’m always interested in how others do things and different approaches to teaching and learning.
  3. What’s usually the first thing to pop into your mind when you wake up each morning? If it’s a weekday its usually, Nooooo! I don’t want to get up!” Seriously though, I usually check in with my blog and mentally make a list of priorities for the day ahead.
  4. What’s your biggest regret in life? If any! Not travelling more when I was younger. I waited til I was thirty before really starting to see the world. So I missed out on the opportunity to work abroad under a working visa.
  5. If you were to be reincarnated as an animal, what animal would you like to be and why? Definitely a dog…especially my dogs. Maybe I’m anthropomorphising, but they seem to experience so many human emotions and have real character. They seem to really enjoy the simple things in life and are the best friends you could ever hope to have.
  6. What’s your favourite smell and why? The ocean because there’s nothing like smelling and tasting the salt air at the same time.
  7. Are you a slow writer or can you whip up in a good post in a couple of hours? A bit of both. Some pieces I have worked on for months, whereas others, flow really quickly. Usually ones in response to prompts are more of the “stream of consciousness” style of writing and can be refined within a couple of hours.
  8. What household chore do you hate doing most? Or is there one you actually enjoy? Definitely the bathroom, and especially the toilet – for obvious reasons. I actually don’t mind sweeping and mopping – there’s something rhythmic and repetitive to it that I find soothing and satisfying.
  9. What colour dominates your wardrobe? Lots of earthy tones – reds, orange, brown and black.
  10. What’s your laugh type? More of a giggle/chuckle but when I really get going I have a whooping cackle!
  11. Are you a romantic? Never thought I was until I met my husband. Now, definitely yes because he makes it so ♥️♥️♥️

The rules I’ve found that the rules vary slightly but they’re all similar…

  • Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog.
  • Answer the 11 questions the person asked you.
  • Nominate 5-11 people (comment on their blog to let them know).
  • Ask the people you have nominated 11 questions.
  • List these rules in your post.
  • And most importantly…HAVE FUN!

My nominees and questions: There is never any obligation with my nominations, just sharing great and new blogs with my readers. If you’re unable to participate for any reason, please accept this as a gesture of my appreciation.

  1. Why did you start blogging?
  2. How long have you been blogging?
  3. What is your favourite post and why? Include a link.
  4. What is your most popular post (by views)? Include a link.
  5. What is your favourite colour and why?
  6. Toilet paper – folded over or under?
  7. What is your most embarrassing moment?
  8. What is your proudest moment?
  9. What song title would describe your life and why?
  10. What did you eat for breakfast today?
  11. Beer, wine, whisky or water? Why?

  1. Hello Sarah,
That’s so lovely of you to link to my blog. I’m touched. Thank you sincerely.
I will get to your questions very soon. We are actually in the process of moving countries so things are a little hectic here.

    Thank you again,
    Kind regards from Di 🌺🌺

      1. Thank you Sarah.
I have been reading the rules to make sure I understand them. It looks like I use it as a post on my blog? And include some links as well as to your blog too.
        Thank you again,
        Di 💐

      2. That’s correct and you can save the badge and display it on your site. Hopefully won’t be too much trouble for you to reply with all you have going on, but if it is, no stress. Consider it a compliment of my high regard for your blog!

      3. Hello again Sarah,
I have been thinking all day about the forwarding of the Liebster award and I didn’t give myself time to really ponder over it, as I was eager to do the right thing by you and your kind deed. The thing is, I actually prefer to promote other blogs throughout a blog post where their topic fits my theme. It’s the way I feel most comfy sharing the love.
I’m still very touched you would think of me.
I feel that right now I haven’t got the headspace for wondering who would appreciate the nomination. I could have gone with the ‘too busy’ line but that’s not the whole story. I wanted to be honest with you. With best intentions and warm regards,
        Thank again from Di 💐

    1. No problem 😊 I understand that not everyone can participate and the nomination is more about my appreciation for your blog 😃 I have really enjoyed what I have read so far and now that I’m following, look forward to more!

  3. Thank you so much. I’m not one for awards (have had blogs over the years that had received lots of them, and they take a lot of time and energy to participate in) but If I can work this into one of my posts, I’ll see what I can do. 🙂

    1. No problem 😊 I understand not everyone can participate and it is more about expressing my regard for your blog! I am so thrilled to have stumbled across your site and love the way your photos have so much thought and care behind the recolouring! The narrative you provide is equally as important as the end result 😃
