Haiku, Poetry by Sarah

Roasted

A sip. To sup from

the coffee cup is to be

slapped hard; awakened.

This haiku is based on my first coffee for the day. As an espresso drinker, (sometimes a double shot!) it seeks to describe the feeling of having the caffeine course through your veins and jolt your central nervous system into action. On a deeper level, it is also a metaphor for how one small truth, even a whisper of it, can be enough to snap out of a delusion and into reality.
